Gatorade used this advertisement to depict how hard mothers work to make sure that their children succeed. Even though both parents typically cheer on their kids when it comes to athletics. Stereotypically, mother’s are the ones who have to sacrifice to raise the kids. Father’s are the ones working to bring home the “bacon” or money. This advertisement shows this stereotype in a variety of ways, including the language used on the poster and the individuals shown, or not shown.
The advertisement states that this mother would do whatever it takes to help you become who you want to be. This includes washing the sports equipment, planning her day around everyone else’s schedules, and going to every game to support her children. This shows how far a mother is willing to go. By the advertisement stating that the mother feels the pain her children endure, it depicts the stereotype that shows women being more emotional and are able to show empathy far better than men.
